Sorry Andrew Shue, you had your shot. Not only has Allison done left Melrose Place and found herself a new hit Fox television show, she's found herself a new man--a geneticist!--to whom she's engaged, her publicist says.

Ally McBeal costar Courtney Thorne-Smith's publicist confirmed Thursday that her 30-year-old client is indeed getting hitched to one Andrew Conrad. And like all good husband material, the devil's in the DNA--literally. This guy comes with the following credentials: Ph.D., Director, Research and Development National Genetics Institute in Los Angeles, the Ultimate TV Website (www.UltimateTV.com) reports. (Mom and Dad shouldn't have too much trouble with that.)

No wedding date was announced, but the flack did say that Thorne-Smith and Conrad have been dating for about a year.

Thorne-Smith, who plays lawyer Georgia on Ally McBeal, has been in the TV business since 1986, when she took over the Jennifer Jason Leigh role in the short-lived TV version of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
