From the August 29th Soap Opera Update:

KANAN'S GREAT ESCAPE
Former GH stars hook up in independent film

Seduction. Betrayal. Attraction. These factors are weaved into "March" — an independent movie that began production on August 1 — so that it commands an even greater lesson in morality than the Academy Award-winning film "American Beauty"! If seduction and betrayal aren't enough to entice audiences, then performers Sean Kanan and Rena Sofer (ex-A.J.; ex-Lois, GENERAL HOSPITAL) will!
For his first major production, Kanan, along with partner Jessica Hammerschlag, found the perfect script, thanks to the writing capabilities of his bud Dean Morini. "I fell in love with it instantly," explains Kanan, who has also penned — and is ready to star — in another project to be distributed through Lions Gate. Kanan warns, however, that although "March's" plot — a volatile affair amongst co-workers — appears simplistic on paper, it's done intentionally in order to protect the ensuing surprises throughout. "It's a relationship-driven piece, dealing with loss and the attempt at redemption."
It didn't take long for Sofer to sign on either — a factor which Kanan couldn't be happier about: "I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Rena — she's great to be around."
In addition to having a favorite star to act opposite, as producer, Kanan reveled in the control that such a position yields. But even power has its drawbacks. Such as? "Hard work and living with lots of stomach aches," jokes Kanan.

Comparing March to American Beauty is setting the bar a wee too high. They're going to be upset when their Oscar nominations aren't announced.
